A land based temporary art installation made by ninety students from St Brigid’s Girls National School and Sacred Heart National Boys National School, Glasnevin in collaboration with the Education Team lead by Melissa O’Brien at the National Botanic Gardens. This project was part of the Brigit 2023: Dublin City Celebrating Women Festival.
Taking inspiration from different forms of Brigit/Bríd, the students co-created Bríd’s cloak using found plant materials gathered from the grounds in the Botanic Gardens.
Each class group pattern devised a repeat pattern to represent aspects of the Saint/Goddess: fire, spring, healing, and the faith and courage to be unique. They collected materials that could symbolise their chosen aspect.
